According to Peter, we have two simple options when it comes to how we live our lives.  We either take up arms in the battle against our sin, intent on living in God’s will, or we raise a white flag of surrender and give in to the desires of our sin nature.  These two choices are not equal in the quality of life they produce—one is rooted in obedience and the other in disobedience.  But how do we move forward in obedience?

Wk 8: Blessing our Enemies

1 Peter 3:8-12

Salvation comes through faith in Jesus.  When we trust in him and the totality of what he’s done in his life, death, and resurrection, God the Father forgives our sin, grants us right standing before himself, takes us as his own children, and pours out his Spirit into our very hearts.

The Nuclear Option

A year or so ago I found myself in a dilemma as a parent. I had talked with the kids individually about their sin and how Jesus died for that sin. I let them each know that no matter what they did I would love them. I told them that there were also consequences to their actions.
